Sunday Brunch Buffets

When getting out of bed is the biggest plan for the day, pouring a bowl of cereal might seem like an insurmountable task. Bedheads can eat without effort—or restraint—at any one of the following Sunday brunch buffets. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Café am Isartor: The selling point of this buffet is unlimited champagne, juice, and hot drinks. Such hot dishes as gratins are also on offer. With pink tablecloths, cream walls, and a smoking ban, this would be a perfect place for a girly brunch. (€ 23.50 per person; children under 1.4 m, € 13.50. Open Sun. and holidays, 11:30 am–2 pm. Tal 41, Tel. 24 23 40)

BattyBaristas: A perfect starting point for a Sunday museum visit, this light buffet includes breads, spreads, cereals, and fresh eggs for € 0.50 extra. Soft leather chairs, free wireless, and a funky crowd make for great people-watching. (€ 5.50 per person Sat., Sun., and holidays, 10 am–2:30 pm. Barerstr. 42. Tel. 28 77 91 62)

Ratskeller: This restaurant in town hall hosts special themed brunches on Sunday, such as an “O Sole Mio” Italian buffet or a visit by a magician. The décor is typical Bavarian: cozy nooks and dark wood furnishings. See for the schedule. (€ 31.50 per person; children under 12, € 12.50; children under 6 free Sun. and some Sat., 10:30 am–2:30 pm. Marienplatz 8 Tel. 21 99 89 32)

Orlando Restaurant: Classic breakfast dishes are on offer, as well as surprises such as roast beef with remoulade sauce or Rote Grütze. The price includes tea, or one glass of champagne or orange juice. Located near the Hofbräuhaus, yet of another world: gold, cream, and crystal deck the walls. (€ 17.90 per person Sun. and holidays, 9:30 am–noon, 12:30 pm–3 pm. Platzl 4, Tel. 24 23 80 30.)

Zoozie’z: The “MultiKulti” brunch buffet includes fruit, antipasti, main dishes, dessert, and juice. The high-ceilinged space hosts bar-hoppers at night. Days are quieter, but still dynamic.
